Renowned Austrian artist Andreas Duscha is celebrated for his distinctive approach to conceptual art and contemporary photography. His work blends subtle, poetic aesthetics with abstract visual language, creating images that invite reflection and interpretation.
Through his art, Duscha transforms historical and contemporary events — from the seemingly mundane to the globally significant — into new narrative structures that challenge perception and uncover hidden layers of meaning. His practice stands out for its delicate balance between precision, emotion, and conceptual depth, positioning him as one of Austria’s most thought-provoking voices in visual and conceptual art.
The collaboration for Andreas Duscha’s monograph Facade, Language, Time, Translation centered on transforming the artist’s conceptual and poetic visual language into a clear, immersive book experience.
The challenge was to capture Duscha’s reflective approach to photography, abstraction, and historical narrative in a design that mirrors his precision and emotional depth.
Developed in close dialogue with the artist and Verlag für moderne Kunst (VfmK), the publication combines editorial structure, rhythm, and visual balance to translate complex ideas into a tactile and contemplative format — a design that becomes part of the artwork itself.
