The Maison That Stayed
GG Magazine — Leonardo Ferragamo
An interview portrait does not need a location. It needs a position. When GG Magazine sat down with Leonardo Ferragamo — CEO, son of the founder, steward of one of the last great family-owned luxury houses — the question was not where to photograph him. It was what the photograph needed to say about inheritance, continuity, and the particular weight of a name.
The rooftop of Palazzo Spini Feroni, Ferragamo’s Florentine headquarters since 1938, had held this image before. In the 1970s, Wanda Ferragamo gathered her children there — Leonardo among them — with the Duomo rising behind them and the city laid out below. The photograph exists. The roof had not changed.
Returning Leonardo to that exact place, five decades later, with the same skyline and a different generation’s questions, was the editorial decision. The rest — the light, the suit, the composed ease of a man entirely at home — followed from it.
